BRFC Abroad: Butt scores again, Polkinghorne debuts

It was another successful weekend for a number of our Roar Women overseas.

In Norway, Attacker Tameka Butt took her Toppserien season tally to three, scoring the only goal in a 1-0 win for her Klepp IL outfit against tenth-place Stabæk.

Butt, who has now scored in three of her last five matches, netted in the 78th minute to keep her side in touch with the league’s top two ahead of a crucial clash against fourth place Kolbotn on Saturday night (Australian time).

Mackenzie Arnold also tasted victory in Norway as her Arna-Bjørnar side secured a come-from-behind victory which sees them jump into the league’s top five.

Arnold was beaten by Sherida Spitse in the first minute before the home side hit back with three strikes of their own to be in a commanding position before half-time, eventually securing a second victory in a matter of four days.

In the United States, Clare Polkinghorne made her debut for the Houston Dash, lining up alongside Hayley Raso’s Portland Thorns.

Raso continued her comeback to the playing arena with a tick over half-hour off the bench in a 3-1 win for the Thorns, with Polkinghorne featuring in the Dash’s starting XI.

No luck for Katrina Gorry’s Utah Royals who’s two-game winning streak was ended in a 2-0 defeat against the Chicago Red Stars.

Back on home soil, our Roar Women this week face Olympic FC at Goodwin Park on Saturday night, 7:20pm KO.
