BRFC Community Update

As Hyundai A-League season 2017/18 draws to a close, our players are continuing to get out and about and give back to local communities.

On Saturday, defender Luke DeVere was invited to Metro Health’s Multicultural Health Day at Slacks Creek and managed to put more than a few smiles on the faces of a number of adoring fans.

Earlier this month, experienced trio Matt McKay, Jade North and Jamie Young did their bit to raise awareness for the more than 4,500 homeless Queensland youth, taking part in the ‘U Matter Games.’

Held at New Farm Park, our boys took the time for photographs and signatures with some young fans and got involved in a number of the free sporting activities designed to encourage youth participation in sport and the community.

Our Roar Active Program have also been busy at work developing the next generation of Australian footballers with Easter Holiday clinics held across Queensland and Northern New South Wales.

Clinics and camps were held in Gympie, Murrumba Downs, Lindum, Sunnybank, Nudgee and Casino during the two-week break, as well a number of Brisbane Roar Step, Club Mini Roo Training and Vacation Care programs.

In total, more than 1100 children participated in Roar Active Programs. Take a look below at some parent testimonials.

“My son, Scott Hare, attended your clinic at Casino on the 18th of April. I have to say my son is a kid of very limited words and he has not stopped talking about the clinic and the coaches that were running the show. He had an absolute ball and I would like to thank the guys for taking the time and mucking around with, him he loved it and it has made him feel so good about himself.  The comment that stuck with my teenage son was ‘keep playing football,’ so again A MASSIVE thank you!” Cindy Scott

“My son, Edward, had a great time at the clinic. Clearly lots of fun and skill development occurred and an appropriate amount of time to train. Great venue as well. As a parent coach of an U8 team, the clinic I saw a great example of fun and skilled-based training.” – Roger & Mav Green

“My son thoroughly enjoyed the Holiday Clinic. The coaches were friendly and made him feel welcome as soon as he arrived. He was stoked with the Brisbane Roar pack he received also!” – Lashanna

“The kids had a ball! Thank you and your team so much! My son said it didn’t feel like three hours it was so much fun!” – Trudy Angel

“My son, Orik, recently attended the Easter clinic and had a wonderful time. Thank you for such an uplifting, enthusiastic and highly motivating soccer development experience! The coaches and their fun and positive approach was amazing.” – Michelle Mikkelsen
