Brisbane Roar has signed powerful forward Eli Babalj as an injury replacement player for the remainder of the Hyundai A-League 2018/19 season.
The 27-year-old, who has experience in some of Europe’s top leagues and at international levels, is excited for the new challenge in Brisbane.
“I’ve really enjoyed training with the group. Everyone has been welcoming and I’m looking forward to contributing to the team,” Babalj said.

“I’m looking forward to playing back in my home country, in a league I know well and playing for the Brisbane Roar.”
The two-time Caltex Socceroo is no stranger to the Hyundai A-League after making his league debut for Melbourne City, then known as Melbourne Heart, as an 18-year-old.
Since then, he’s gained experience in Serbia, the Netherlands and the Czech Republic, representing clubs such as Serbian powerhouse Red Star Belgrade & Dutch outfit AZ Alkmaar.
After successful completing a trial with the Club, Interim Head Coach Darren Davies is pleased to have added a player of Babalj’s quality to his squad.
“Eli has been impressive on the training pitch since arriving in Brisbane & has fitted in very well with the playing group,” Davies said.
“We’re looking forward to adding his experience & skill to an already extremely talented attack we have at this Club.”
The Roar return to Hyundai A-League action this Friday night at Suncorp Stadium, taking on the Western Sydney Wanderers (6:50pm KO).
