Brisbane Roar can confirm it has signed Dutch youth international Stefan Nijland on loan from Dutch giants PSV for the remainder of the season.

The 24-year-old is expected to join his new team mates at training on Thursday and, pending clearance paperwork, could be available for selection in Friday night-s clash with the table-topping Central Coast Mariners.

Nijland can play anywhere across the front line, providing Head Coach Mike Mulvey with more options in the attacking third of the pitch.

Mulvey said he was excited by the prospect of pairing Nijland with the club-s current Golden Boot winner Besart Berisha.

“Stefan is tall, quick and has an eye for goal,” Mulvey said.

“I-m confident he-ll fit neatly into our style of play and hopefully inject more cutting edge to our attack.

“He is a different kind of striker to Besart and I believe the two can become a very dangerous attacking combination.”

Nijland played his last game on Friday, featuring in a friendly match against Sparta Rotterdam.
