Brisbane eager for points at home

Brisbane Roar take on Liberty A-League competition leaders Western United this Saturday at Perry Park in the hunt for a finals position as they look to capitalise on the remaining points up for grabs in the season.

Western United picked up a 2-0 win in their last game against Brisbane Roar FC, scoring one goal in each half on the day. This will be the second ever meeting between the teams in the competition.

In the 13th minute, the Roar were on the counterattack with Katrina Gorry putting a ball through to Indiah-Paige Riley whose shot goes wide of the right post for an easy save by Hillary Beall.

In the 47th minute, Western United regained possession and Adriana Taranto passed through to Jessica McDonald who crossed the ball to Hannah Keane for a tap in to put Western United up 1-0.

Minutes later, Larissa Crummer ran onto a ball put through the middle by Hollie Palmer and had a shot with her left foot that went straight to the keeper.

Jessica McDonald made her second assist in the match after beating Brisbane defence and crossing the ball to Tyla-Jay Vlajnic for a tap-in that bounced out of goal.

Vlajnic continued her involvement in the play and followed up to bury the ball in the back of the net to secure the 2-0 victory.

Brisbane have won only one of their last five games at Perry Park, conceding at least one goal in each of those matches, so will be determined to get a win on the board this weekend.

Shea Connors has scored one goal in three of her last five games in the Liberty A-League and will look to continue this form in Saturday’s Western United clash.

Brisbane Roar will commemorate Larissa Crummer’s 100 Liberty A-Leagues game this Saturday with a short presentation post-game.

KO 2:00pm at Perry Park. Catch the action on Paramount+ and 10Play or purchase tickets here.
