Brisbane look to make it two wins on the bounce

The Brisbane Roar will be looking to maintain their winning form in their match-up with Melbourne Victory at Perry Park this Saturday afternoon.

After securing the 1-0 triumph over Adelaide United last week, Brisbane will be looking for another three points in this weekend’s clash.

Before last week’s match, the Roar had not won a game since December against the Newcastle Jets so will be aiming to begin a winning streak.

It will be a must-see match-up as Brisbane Roar are just trailing behind the Victory in fifth place.

These two sides have not played each other since January of last year when Katrina Gorry ignited a late comeback for the Roar to win 4-2.

In a match that did not have a typical start, a mistake by Jessie Rasschaert gave away an own goal to the Victory after a pass-back to the goalkeeper ended up in the back of the net.

Melbourne scored another in the 26th minute in what was a messy delivery after chaos in front of goal, but Lynn Williams of Melbourne managed to get the ball across the goal line for a 2-0 lead.

The second half saw the Roar turn up the heat, after a long-range effort by Katrina Gorry deflected off the goalkeeper for Larissa Crummer to finish it off in the 59th minute.

In the final minutes of the match, a picture-perfect strike by Gorry from outside the 18-yard box made it 2-2, followed by a glorious tap-in by Shea Connors for the lead.

It was not until Ayesha Norrie sealed the comeback in added time for a 4-2 win in Melbourne.

Brisbane will be looking to repeat history and bring this intensity back in their Saturday afternoon contest at Perry Park at 2:00pm AEST on Paramount+ or 10Play.
