Brisbane out for three points in Perth

Brisbane Roar will be looking to make their mark at Macedonia Park for the Pride Celebration Round as they take on Perth Glory this Saturday in a clash of sixth and seventh place.

The Pride Celebration round will take place this weekend with the inclusion of a Guard of Honour, rainbow flags and Ayesha Norrie wearing a rainbow-coloured armband to acknowledge the occasion.

The Roar have not lost since going down 0-2 against Western United on January 21 away at North Hobart Oval but have had a good run since then with two draws and a 1-0 victory over Adelaide United.

Perth Glory are coming off the back end of some big wins, with a 4-0 victory over Newcastle last week and 3-1 against Western United the week before.

They have not lost since their 2-3 defeat on January 1 of this year at their home of Macedonia Park against Western United, so are looking like a tough contest for the Roar.

Perth Glory have won three of their last four Liberty A-League matches against Brisbane Roar FC, including each of their last two meetings, although neither team has won more than two consecutive games in the history of this fixture.

The Roar have won only one of their last six Liberty A-League matches, however, that victory did come in their most recent game outside Queensland against Adelaide.

These teams last met at the end of 2021 in a game of back-and-forth where both teams found themselves with a lack of ability to finish after creating multiple goal opportunities.

It was not until the 86th minute that Perth scored the match’s first and final goal off a corner towards the near post that was headed away by Brisbane defence, but Alana Jencevski found herself on the end of it to strike the back of the net for a 1-0 triumph.

The Roar’s Hollie Palmer has created 29 scoring chances in the 2022/23 season, the second most of any player in the competition and will be looking to maintain this form this Saturday.

Brisbane will be hoping to create earlier chances and see themselves on the scoreboard first in the showdown at Macedonia Park.
