Brisbane Roar is delighted to welcome Luciano Trani back to the club as Isuzu UTE A-League Assistant Coach to Ross Aloisi for the 2023/24 season.
Trani began his coaching career in the Victorian Premier League and National Soccer League levels and went on to coach at several A-League clubs including the Brisbane Roar, Melbourne City, Adelaide United, Wellington Phoenix, and Melbourne Victory.
He joined the Roar in 2013 and was involved in the title-winning 2013/14 season.
Equipped with international experience, he also spent time in Belgium, joining Sint-Truidense V.V. as Assistant Coach in 2020.
Trani will join the Roar after being Assistant Coach at Melbourne Victory since 2021.
“I’m really pleased to be returning to the Roar, it’s a great club. I’m looking forward to working alongside Ross for the coming season, it’s an exciting time as we aim to bring success back to the club,” Trani said.
“I believe my experience in Australia and overseas football provides the opportunity to advance the football program and to get the best out of the playing group,” Trani added.
Head Coach Ross Aloisi looks forward to working with Trani, and utilising his knowledge and experience to full effect.
“It’s an amazing opportunity to work with another person who’s aligned with our work ethic and football culture,” Aloisi said.
“He’s got a wealth of experience where he can see things that a lot of other coaches won’t.”
“He’s worked with two of the best coaches that have come out of Australia in Muscat and Popovic, [so] it’s great to have him on board.”
“It’s exactly what we’re looking for; a coach with experience that’s hungry to succeed, that’s been in the game for a long time and has the same mindset and work ethic as the rest of the coaching staff,” COO Zac Anderson said.
“We are very pleased to have Luciano on board, a coach who we truly believe is going to make a significant difference to our group.”
“I’ve always admired Luciano’s approach to the game, his work ethic, tactical knowledge, and his ability to bring out the best in his players.”
“His experience and track record speak volumes, and I’m thrilled that we’ll benefit from his leadership. I can’t wait to see how we grow and succeed under Ross and Luciano,” Anderson added.
