Roar has selected its 2025 NPL Queensland squad, led by experienced Queensland coach, Karl Dodd the side has been training together since November 2024, with a mix of new and retained youth talent.
Joeys duo, Charlie Parkin and Rhys Williams along with Forbes Porter, Tate Baldwin, Zane North, Caleb Butler, Nelson Deng and Zac Fowler have been all promoted from the 2024 Premiership winning U23s side.
Jack Benham has been retained alongside Ivan Ozzi, Lennard Atterwell, George Plusnin, James Durrington and Ty Cobb. NPL midfield maestro, Eddie Ince returns in 2025, after a successful ACL rehabilitation.
Additionally, Noah Maieroni, Asim Sehovic, Sam Flannery, Rafa Alvis and Archie Mitchell all arrive at Roar from Brisbane City, alongside Sam Klein from Gold Coast Knights, who has made the most of his A-League opportunities in the past few weeks.
Further additions include: Former Gold Coast United defender, Adam Shaker who arrives from Western Sydney Wanderers.
Jack Child, a strong and versatile defender who most recently played for Ericerirense in Portugal, while dynamic forward David Russell arrives at the club from Kingscliff Wolves.
Christian Naveen, a winger who’s represented Australia at U18 level, who played for 1860 Munich in Germany and Admira Wacker in Austria joins Roar from Western United.
The Roar’s NPL program led by Karl Dodd, aims to provide both a platform for the State’s best young talent and a strong relationship between the local competition and the senior men’s A-League program.
Dodd, who is a former Roar player with extensive playing and coaching experience in the A-League, Europe and Asia will be assisted by Gabriel Hawash, who joins the coaching staff after leading Holland Park to the FQPL 2 Premiership and promotion which earned him 2024 FQPL 2 Men’s Coach of the Season honours.
Lucas Herrington, Quinn MacNicol, Thomas Waddingham, Sam Klein and Ivan Ozzi are amongst those to have recently been promoted into Roar’s A-League side after coming through the NPL program.
Young Roar have started pre-season friendlies strongly with early victories over Gold Coast United and Eastern Suburbs along with a defeat at the hands of Ipswich FC in the past few weeks.
Pre-season continues for Dodd’s side with a match against St George Willawong at South Pine Sports Complex on Saturday, January 25 (4pm KO).
Young Roar’s first competitive match of 2025 is up against Brisbane City in Kappa Pro Series action in Bundaberg on Saturday, February 1. Check out full Kappa Pro Series fixtures HERE
