Brisbane Roar is delighted to announce that Junior Matildas central defender Ruby Cuthbert has committed to the club on a new two-year deal, through until the end of the 2026/27 Ninja A-League season.
Born and raised in Fremantle, Western Australia, Cuthbert started her football journey at Fremantle City in the Boys Academy before joining Murdoch University Melville FC’s Women’s team. Ruby then moved across to the National Training Centre (NTC) in Western Australia before signing her first professional contract with Brisbane Roar in 2023.
Unfortunately, Cuthbert sustained a hamstring injury which has seen the 17-year-old remain sidelined for the majority of this season. Nevertheless, determined to return to the field, Cuthbert continues her rehab and is working her way back to full fitness.
“I’m thrilled to extend my journey at Brisbane Roar with a two-year contract. I’m eager to showcase my skills and deliver strong performances across the next two seasons,” Cuthbert said.
“I’m incredibly grateful to be part of Brisbane Roar. Our teammates and staff are amazing, and the culture within the club is fantastic.”
“Although I’ve had some frustrations with a couple of injuries this season, I’m thankful to the physios who’ve played a huge role in helping me get back on the pitch. I’m looking forward to contributing to the team as we head into the final stretch of the season.”
“Alex has created a great culture, and we’re all fully committed to his plan and style of play. We believe that success will come.”
