BRISBANE ROAR INTO AUSTRALIA CUP FINAL

Brisbane Roar are through to the Final of the Australia Cup after a 1-0 victory against Melbourne Knights on Sunday night secured their spot to face Sydney FC.

Thomas Waddingham continued his stellar run since joining the Senior team by scoring his third goal of the Australia Cup in the 18th minute.

Jay O’Shea dribbled into the box with pace before taking a shot that deflected off a Melbourne Knights defender for young Waddingham to put it away for the 1-0 lead.

Roar and Knights were well-matched for most of the game with both teams finding goal opportunities and maintaining a strong defence, but it was Ross Aloisi’s side that progressed to the Final.

Roar veteran Jay O’Shea spoke about the impact Ross Aloisi has had since stepping in as Head Coach and what it would mean to win it all.

“It’s so positive for us this year. Since he’s come in, Ross has been brilliant in the way we’re trying to play. He’s got us so fit, there’s a great buzz around the club again and to make it to a Final just before the season starts, couldn’t ask for much more,” O’Shea said.

“It would mean a lot to us to get some silverware, especially to our Brisbane fans who have been there for us through thick and thin.”

Australia Cup Final details TBA.
