Brisbane Roar is proud to announce the signing of 17-year-old Roar ‘B’ team midfielder Emmett Shaw on a three-year scholarship deal ahead of the 2026/27 Isuzu UTE A-League season.
Shaw became the third youngest player to represent the club at A-League level after making his debut at 16 years, 9 months and 3 days against Melbourne City in Round 20 of the 25/26 campaign, going on to make seven appearances across the season.
Shaw chose to stay with Brisbane Roar after interest from several A-League teams, showcasing his commitment to his hometown club.
The midfielder has represented Australia at U17 level and joined Brisbane Roar’s B side in 2025 following a Championship-winning NPL Queensland season with Lions FC, where he was crowned the competition’s Young Player of the Season 2025.
Speaking on signing his first professional contract, Shaw said: “I’m incredibly excited to be signing for Brisbane Roar. It’s a special moment for me and my family because this is my hometown club, and I grew up watching the team from a young age and admiring the great history the club has.
“To now have the opportunity to represent Brisbane Roar is something I’m very proud of. I’m looking forward to getting started, working hard with the coaching staff and the boys, and giving everything I have every day.
“My goals for the season are to contribute with goals and assists, always put the team first, win my individual duels, and do everything I can to help bring a trophy back to Brisbane. ”
