Brisbane Roar secure fourth win of pre-season in friendly against Rochedale Rovers

Brisbane Roar had their fourth pre-season hit out as a team on a rainy Sunday afternoon at Underwood Park winning 7-1 against Rochedale Rovers.

The match saw Head Coach Ross Aloisi continue to incorporate players from the NPL squad. This allowed them to get match minutes as they continued their development alongside the senior players.

All eyes were on new signing Joe Caletti, as he slotted into the squad in the second half, showcasing his talent in the midfield.

Rochedale were first to make the statement, opening the scoring in the 17th minute.

Roar responded in the 36th minute when a Jay O’Shea ball found Kai Trewin for a header in front of goal.

Brisbane Roar were able to add another to the scoreboard just before the break when Ayom Majok was taken out in the box.

Jay O’Shea stepped up for the penalty and calmly put the ball away to make it 2-1.

Roar came back firing in the second half with Henry Hore finding the back of the net in the 58th minute with a composed strike in front of the goal.

Not too long passed before Alex Parsons made his presence known after receiving a stellar ball from Majok to set him up for a header into goal.

In the 73rd minute, a cross from Henry Hore met Thomas Waddingham for a header to make the scoreboard 5-1.

Just a minute after that, some Parsons and Majok magic saw them drive the ball forward. Parsons returned the favour from his earlier goal, setting Majok up nicely to score.

NPL product Cameron Anderson was taken out in the box, and none other than our trusty Irishman O’Shea converted the penalty successfully to make the final score 7-1.

Brisbane Roar now gear up for their Australia Cup Round of 32 match against Newcastle Jets on Monday 14 August.
