Brisbane Roar sign Indonesian International Striker Rafael Struick

Brisbane Roar FC is thrilled to announce the signing of Indonesian International forward, Rafael Struick, ahead of the 2024/25 Isuzu UTE A-League season. The talented 21-year-old joins the Roar from Dutch club ADO Den Haag.

Struick, who stands at an imposing 6ft 1, is a versatile forward capable of playing both as a traditional number 9 and as a winger. This season, Struick has already made three appearances in the Eerste Divisie, for Dutch club ADO Den Haag.

Internationally, Struick has made 14 appearances for the Indonesian National Team, where he is a key player under the guidance of coach Shin Tae-Yong, a former Roar player. Notably, Struick led Indonesia’s front line in their World Cup qualifier against the Socceroos recently.

His performance at the U23 AFC Asian Cup was particularly impressive, where Struick scored twice in a pivotal quarter-final victory over Korea Republic. Indonesia’s remarkable journey at the tournament included a victory over Australia and a semi-final appearance.

Struick’s extraordinary goal from outside the 18-yard box against Korea was named the goal of the tournament. Born in the Netherlands, Rafael honed his skills within the esteemed Dutch football development system.

Speaking about his move, Rafael Struick expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “I’m happy to be here and I can’t wait to get started.”

“Brisbane is a very big club, playing in a very strong competition. I’m excited to play in the A-League and make this move to the other side of the world to make a step outside of my comfort zone.

“I want to help the team as much as possible with my qualities, to score goals and provide assists.”

Rafael Struick will wear the number 7 jersey for the Roar.  The Roar family warmly welcomes Rafael to Brisbane, and we look forward to seeing his impact on the field!
