Brisbane Roar will continue their pre-season matches with a friendly against Western United this Saturday afternoon at Meakin Park in collaboration with Football Queensland.
Fans await the “friendly Aloisi derby” which will be the first time the Aloisi brothers will sit on opposite ends of the sidelines.
In their last meeting, in the Isuzu UTE A-League Brisbane won 1-0 at Kayo Stadium after a Jay O’Shea strike secured the three points. Before that the two sides played out a 1-1 draw, so they will look to beat previous results with a strong victory this Saturday in preparation for the season.
All eyes will be on new signing Florin Berenguer as fans await his first minutes in the Roar jersey.
After securing a spot in the Australia Cup Quarter finals, Head Coach Ross Aloisi will continue working with his squad in this Western United clash to polish up for the tournament.
Brisbane Roar has worked with Football Queensland, to make this pre-season match a family event with food trucks and a coffee van for food and refreshments available for families.
The Roar Active Program’s inflatable field will be set up for juniors to have a kick around on the day, on field three of Meakin Park.
We look forward to welcoming Tresor again to the Brisbane Roar for half-time entertainment on Saturday.
The match will also act as a further fundraiser for former Brisbane Roar player Izaack Powell, with Izaack Powell jerseys on sale. A signed jersey will be auctioned off and a raffle will be drawn with tickets priced at $5, with all proceeds going to his recovery fund.
