Brisbane Roar are through to the Australia Cup Round of 16 after winning 3-2 against Newcastle Jets at Maitland Sportsground on Monday night.
Newcastle’s Trent Buhagiar opened the scoring in the 12th minute with a shot that sliced through the Roar defence.

Brisbane responded just on the brink of half-time from a Carlo Armiento corner that found its way into goal with a deflection off Jets goalkeeper Ryan Scott.
After the break, Newcastle found the lead when Clayton Taylor scored a volley to make it 2-1.

The 62nd minute saw magic from Louis Zabala, scoring his first ever senior goal and the equaliser after a pass through from Taras Gomulka.
In extra time, Quinn MacNicol was substituted on for Carlo Armiento and came out firing, creating two great chances to put Brisbane in front.
