We are one! We are Brisbane! Week 4 of this fantastic Hyundai A-League 2010/11 season gets going with a battle between two unbeaten sides. Get ready to Roar…
…Friday-s game at Suncorp Stadium between two sides who have yet to taste defeat in the Hyundai A-League 2010/11 season is a tough one to call. Will there be goals galore, or will a single piece of magic decide the outcome? The net has been bursting in Phoenix-s two games so far, with eight goals having been scored in total, while, in contrast, Roar-s two matches have produced just a single strike.
Regardless, it-s sure to be a close game and, at home for the second weekend in a row, Roar will be looking for the same fervent support that their loyal fans showed in last week-s outstanding win over Sydney FC. A victory on Friday would be their third in a row at home. Apart from a six-match winning streak on home soil between November 2008 and February 2009, the Roar have never won more than two in a row at home before.
Having recovered from injury, Reinaldo-s cameo appearance from the bench for the last ten minutes against Sydney FC suggests he-ll be pushing for a starting place and the opportunity to boost Roar-s potency up-front. Meanwhile, Phoenix will need all of their attacking wits about them if they are to penetrate a Brisbane defence that has yet to concede a goal in the Hyundai A-League 2010/11 season.
If anyone can find a way through Brisbane-s backline though, it-s Paul Ifill, who scored on his 400th professional appearance last week in the cracking victory over Central Coast Mariners.
However, Wellington – whose four points have come from two home games – don-t travel especially well, and trips to Brisbane are notoriously fruitless for the New Zealand side. In five games there, they have never won, and only once come away with a point. On their last visit, Phoenix conceded three second-half goals in a 4-1 drubbing.
However, Roar fans shouldn-t get too complacent. Brisbane-s solitary defeat to Phoenix came in the previous meeting between the two sides in Wellington and, with Phoenix scoring five goals in two games at the start of the Hyundai A-League 2010/11 season, it-s going to take plenty of noise from the home fans to help the Roar secure another three points!
