Brisbane share the points in Melbourne

Brisbane Roar snatched a point in Sunday’s 1-1 draw against Melbourne Victory to threaten Victory’s hopes of a top four finals spot with only one game remaining in the Liberty A-League season.

The Roar found themselves on the scoreboard first in the 29th minute, after Sharn Freier put through a great ball for Shea Connors to run onto and beat Melbourne defence with pace.

Connors struck to the top of goal where Casey Dumont was able to get her hands to the ball, but she fumbled it, and the ball found the back of the net to give Brisbane the 1-0 lead.

In the 37th minute, Melina Ayres scored from a penalty to equalise after a foul was given away by Brisbane defence following a dangerous tackle in the box.

Chaos in front of goal after a corner in the 74th minute saw a diving save from Hensley Hancuff to stop a shot from Beattie Goad, denying a second goal for Melbourne.

Brisbane will play Perth Glory this Saturday at their home of Perry Park where they will look to finish on a high note in their last game of the Liberty A-League season.

The game is now a KIDS GO FREE match. Get along to the game with the kids and support your Brisbane Roar Women in their final home game of the 2022/23 season.
