Brisbane shares the points at Perry Park

Brisbane Roar played a solid game of football on Saturday afternoon to draw 1-1 with fourth place Melbourne Victory at Perry Park.

Brisbane came out the gates strong with Katrina Gorry having a shot in the 7th minute following a glorious Shea Connors reverse ball to keep Victory goalkeeper Casey Dumont on her toes early on.

With Gorry constantly involving herself in the game, moments later she received the ball from Brisbane’s back line to take herself on a run to have another shot landing too far left of the goal post.

In the 20th minute, Beatrice Goud was fouled just inside the 18-yard box by Brisbane defence that gave away a penalty for Alex Chidiac to place in the left side of goal.

The Roar did not let this celebration last long as Connors gained control of the ball to swivel around Victory defence and have a picture-perfect shot that curled to the top right corner, just out of Dumont’s reach.

Both teams were level at the break, but this did not stop the Roar from showing their determination for another goal as Connors executed a great cross into the goal area for Gorry to compete for a header but was put out by Victory Captain Kayla Ann Morrison.

The 84th minute saw a last shot by Gorry taking a touch off a Jessie Rasschaert’s throw-in to strike it top right of the goal which was magnificently saved by Dumont.

The match ended 1-1 at Perry Park, and Brisbane will prepare to face Perth Glory in Round 15 away at Macedonia Park on February 25. KO 6pm AEST.
