COO Statement: Suncorp Stadium Transport

To our dedicated Brisbane Roar FC members and fans,

We have become aware of supporter concerns over the local transport situation for Sunday’s double-header at Suncorp Stadium.

Please understand that we hear you and will work towards finding better solutions with our stakeholders. Working closely with Suncorp Stadium and Translink, our mission is to put the fan experience and safety first.

For events of this crowd size, we were advised that Translink services should only run city services as there are still suburban services which can satisfy demand.  For our first home game of the season, we ran all services as we weren’t sure if the travel patterns may have changed since the last time the Roar played at Suncorp Stadium. Following the event, we had feedback from Transport for Brisbane who advised there was very little usage (in the order of 50 – 100 people).

Furthermore, it has been communicated to us that this issue has been further impacted by the major weekend track closures on the Beenleigh, Cleveland and Gold Coast lines.

Being back at Suncorp Stadium is an important next step for Brisbane Roar. However, we understand we need to continue growing and making adjustments to accommodate all patrons. We will continue to listen and learn from each matchday, focusing upon providing our Brisbane Roar family a great matchday experience. To do that, we will do everything in our power, and work with event partners, to make every visit as accessible as they can be.

In the meantime, we appreciate every effort our fans are making to come and cheer on our teams this weekend. Our support continues to grow and we’re excited to see our Men’s and Women’s teams put on a show.

Thank you for your continued and unwavering support for Brisbane Roar.
