Brisbane Roar can today announce the signing of Youstin Salas on a season long loan for the highly anticipated Isuzu UTE 25/26 A-League season.
The 29-year-old arrives in Brisbane from Sporting San Jose FC, where he was on loan from parent club Deportivo Saprissa since January 2025.
Prior to this, Salas notably participated in the 2022 World Cup Qatar, where he helped Costa Rica with a narrow 1-0 victory against Japan, along with a hard-fought defeat to Germany in the closing group stage match.
Domestically, Youstin won the 2018/19 Concacaf League with CS Herediano, along with 4 Costa Rica League titles with Deportivo Saprissa and Herediano.
The Costa Rican international also previously had a spell at Wellington Pheonix, making 12 appearances for the New Zealand side.
Salas joins the Roar, alongside a growing defensive force which also includes the likes of Lucas Herrington, Hosine Bility, Dimitri Valkanis, James McGarry, Austin Ludwik, Ben Warland and Antonee Burke-Gilroy
“I’m extremely happy to be joining Brisbane Roar”, Youstin says.
“The football club is building in an exciting direction, and I can’t wait to play in Brisbane colours and give my all for the fans this season.”
“I’m excited to welcome Youstin to Brisbane Roar”, Head Coach Michael Valkanis said.
“I believe his experience from playing in South America and the A-League will help the squad greatly.
“His defensive capabilities paired with his ability to get up and down the field will make him a crucial member of the team this season.”
