Brisbane Roar Head Coach John Aloisi is pleased to announce that Socceroo legend Craig Moore will return to the club as Football Operations Manager.
Moore was the club’s first marquee player when he signed with the Roar in 2007. He captained the club in 63 appearances in the Orange jersey.
He also won the prestigious Gary Wilkins medal in 2007/08 and 2008/09 and was the Roar Players’ Player of the Year award winner in both seasons.
“Craig has a wealth of experience in football and a first-hand understanding of what it means to play for the Roar,” Aloisi said.
“He will work closely with me as Football Operations Manager.
“His football knowledge and his love for the club will be invaluable as we transition to a new era and rebuild the Roar to challenge for honours again.”
Moore, a renowned tough defender, had an outstanding playing career overseas including 252 appearances for Glasgow Rangers. He captained the famous club and was part of the side that won the 2002/03 Scottish football treble.
He also had stints with Newcastle United and Crystal Palace.
Moore played 52 full internationals for the Socceroos, including appearances at two FIFA World Cups (2006 and 2010).
In recent years, the 39-year-old Moore has been a player mentor with the Socceroos.
He travelled with Ange Postecoglou’s squad to the 2014 World Cup in Brazil and provided mentoring and support to the players during the Socceroos’ AFC Asian Cup success in January.
Moore said he was eager to get to work with Aloisi and wil begin his new role immediately.
“It great to be back at the club at such an exciting time,” Moore said.
“I aim to support John and oversee the structure and operations of the club’s football department.”
