Brisbane Roar are delighted to announce that defensive pairing Antonee Burke-Gilroy and Austin Ludwik have both signed one-year contract extensions for the upcoming 25/26 Isuzu UTE A-League Men season, with the club activating the one-year extension in Burke-Gilroy’s current contract.
Burke-Gilroy made his A-League debut for the Roar in the 20/21 season, appearing twice after signing as an injury replacement. He spent two campaigns with Perth Glory before returning to Brisbane during the 23/24 season.
The versatile defender made 17 appearances and bagged two assists in his first season back in Brisbane before playing 25 games last season.
“I’m excited to be re-signing and committed to setting high standards this season,” Burke-Gilroy said.
“My focus is on leading by example, driving team success, and making sure we take a step forward both individually and collectively.
“I’m happy to be continuing on with the Roar family!”
Reigning two-time NPL Queensland Player of the Year, Austin Ludwik, joined the club in during the 24/25 season from Gold Coast Knights, where he captained the side to two NPL Premierships and Grand Final victories.
The 28-year-old made his A-League debut off the bench in Round 18 against Wellington Phoenix and featured on six occasions throughout the backend of the campaign.
“I’m delighted to sign an extension at the Roar and extremely grateful to the club and staff for giving me the opportunity,” Ludwik said.
“I’m looking forward to getting back together with the group and the new coaching staff.
“I know we are all eager to put in the hard work for a bigger and better year ahead.”
Head Coach Michael Valkanis said: “The extension of both players are such positives for the club.
“Antonee and Austin will continue to add great strength to our defensive stocks and work hard ahead of the new campaign.
“I look forward to seeing their contribution as we strive for success in season 25/26.”
