Brisbane Roar can confirm that defensive duo Holly McQueen and Chelsea Blissett will depart the club following the expiration of their contracts.
After signing her first professional contract with the club in 2021, McQueen went on to make 49 appearances in orange across five seasons.
McQueen featured in 22 games across the 24/25 season, where she won 43 tackles, 85 duels, and made 36 interceptions.
“I want to say thanks to my fans for their support throughout my whole journey,” McQueen said.
“From being a train-on, to scholarship, to getting a full contract they’ve all been with me the whole way.
“I am very grateful for the start of my career being in my hometown of Brisbane in front of my friends and family.”
Chelsea Blissett joined the Roar ahead of the 23/24 season, where she featured on five occasions and scored her first Ninja A-League goal on home soil before sustaining an ACL injury that ruled her out for the remainder of the season. Blissett bounced back last season with 20 appearances, a goal and four assists to her name.
“Thank you to the Roar for being my home over the past two seasons,” Blissett said.
“The club and its fans welcomed me with open arms, and I couldn’t be more grateful. You supported me through the most challenging time in my career, which makes it even harder to say goodbye.
“The Roar — and especially its incredible fans — will always hold a special place in my heart.”
Brisbane Roar extends a big thank you to Holly and Chelsea for their significant contribution to the club and wishes them both all the best for the future.
