Ecuadorian Winger, Neicer Acosta joins Brisbane Roar

Brisbane Roar are excited to confirm the signing of Ecuadorian youth international, Neicer Acosta on a one year deal with an option to extend ahead of the 2024/25 Isuzu UTE A-League season. 

The 21-year-old exciting attacker, who has represented Ecuador at U17 and U20 level arrives in Brisbane via from Liga Pro Serie B side, Guayaquil City. 

Acosta, who has also represented Independiente del Valle and Orlando City (MLS) is sure to get fans off their seats with his pace, power, and dribbling ability in the final third. 

The Ecuadorian winger was part of the Independiente side that won the 2020 U20 Copa Libertadores, beating River Plate in the final before scoring two goals in the 2022 edition of the tournament in which his side were beaten by Penarol on penalties in the final. 

“I wanted to start by thanking the club for the opportunity to belong to a great institution. One of the main motivations for reaching the A-League was Brisbane Roar, because it is a leading club within a growing and visible league,” Acosta said. 

“It also motivated me to know that it is a stable, and safe country, with a beautiful culture, a pleasant climate and respectful people, where I will be able to dedicate myself exclusively to my work without problems and distractions.  

“My ambitions are first of all, to help the club be successful and win many games. On a personal level, be influential for my teammates and shine in the league.” 

Acosta joins Rafael Struick and Walid Shour as the Roar’s third new visa signing ahead of the new A-League campaign. 

The winger will wear the number 11 jersey for Roar this season which kicks off on the road against Auckland on Saturday, October 19.
