Brisbane Roar is delighted to announce the signing of Kwame Yeboah and Ben Litfin to senior NYL contracts for the next two Hyundai A-League seasons.
The exciting Queensland-born duo have been stand-out performers in this season-s National Youth League campaign.
Yeboah, a right-sided attacker, has already made his first team debut – coming on as a 90th minute substitute in the Round 21 win over Wellington Phoenix at Suncorp Stadium.
The 18-year-old scored five goals in Brisbane Roar-s recently completed National Youth League season.
Litfin scored four goals and made a huge impression in his first season with the Brisbane National Youth League squad.
A creative and hard-working midfielder, Litfin promises to be one to watch as he joins the rest of the Hyundai A-League squad on a full time basis next season.
Head Coach Mike Mulvey said he was excited at the prospect of helping both players realise their potential.
“Kwame is a young boy who is very determined to succeed,” Mulvey said.
“He is someone who we hold high hopes for in the future, he has speed and good movement in the final third.
“Of course, he has a lot of improvement and hard work ahead of him, but he deserves his chance and we are happy to offer him his chance.
“Ben is a young player with lots of potential.
“He is a midfielder who fits the type of player we are after.
“He has the ability to keep the ball, has good vision and is a tireless working in the middle of the park.
“For both boys this is a great opportunity and one I am sure they will accept wholeheartedly.”
The two youngsters join the likes of James Donachie, Matt Acton, Luke Brattan, Corey Brown and Ben Halloran as young Queensland talent who have followed the pathway to the club-s Hyundai A-League squad.
The group of young players join experienced Queensland products Shane Stefanutto, Jade North and Mitch Nichols to ensure the club maintains a strong local feel to its squad.
While the immediate focus for the newly-signed pair will be to put pressure on established first team players for positions in the starting eleven, long term they will no doubt look to emulate the exploits of other young Queensland players who have come through the Brisbane Roar system to earn contracts playing football overseas.
Former Brisbane players Tommy Oar, Michael Zullo and Adam Sarota have made strong marks in Holland this season, helping their side FC Untrecht to a current position of sixth in the tough Eredivisie.
Former captain Matt McKay continues to be a regular starter for the Socceroos and will this season ply his trade in the ever-improving Chinese Super League with Changchun Yatai.
Yeboah and Litfin have replaced Brown and George Lambadaridis who were promoted to senior Hyundai A-League contracts for next season.
The club has one senior NYL contract remaining to fill for the Hyundai 2013/14 season.
