Brisbane Roar’s FFA Cup run came to an end in the Quarter Finals with a 1-0 defeat to Sydney FC at a sodden Netstrata Jubilee Stadium on Wednesday.
Elvis Kamsoba’s strike just after the hour proved the difference in a tough and a tight contest that ended with a flurry of Brisbane shots and a goalmouth scramble in the home side’s box.
Jay O’Shea had threatened on a couple of occasions prior to that moment, while Matti Steinmann fired over from a promising position in the first half.
But with a young squad impacted by unavailabilities, the Roar – who handed a first-team debut to Louis Zabala – were left empty handed.
The result brings an end to Brisbane’s best result in the competition to date, having reached the Quarter Finals for the first time.

GOALS
Sydney FC | Elivs Kamsoba (63′)
1-0 – Rhyan Grant creates the overlap on the right and floats a well-weighted cross to the opposite post, where Kamsoba is on hand for a first-time finish.
