Westfield Matildas Head Coach Ante Milicic will entrust the same twenty (20) players that topped Group B of Tokyo 2020 Women’s Olympic Football Tournament Qualification with sealing progression to the competition proper when Australia takes on Vietnam home and away in March.
Matildas mentor Milicic today named an identical squad for Australia’s clashes with Vietnam at McDonald Jones Stadium in Newcastle (March 6) and at the Cẩm Phả Stadium in Quảng Ninh Province (March 11) as the one that earned wins over Chinese Taipei and Thailand, and a dramatic draw with China PR, in Sydney earlier this month.
“The players that we had in camp in Sydney did a great job to help us advance to the next phase of Olympic qualification,” Milicic said.
“We were in camp for over three weeks, which enabled us to get some great work in both on and off the pitch.
“I look forward to working with these players again in Newcastle and Vietnam as we seek to seal Australia a second football team in Tokyo,” he said.
The Westfield Matildas will convene in the Hunter in early March for a short preparation ahead of their home tie against Vietnam on Friday, 6 March 2020.
Tickets for Australia’s home match against Vietnam in Newcastle are on sale to the general public via www.matildas.com.au.
