A sparkling performance has kept our Roar Women in the hunt for finals football.
Jake Goodship’s squad marked its final home game of the season with a 5-0 drubbing of Canberra United, providing a huge boost to potentially crucial goal difference.
American duo Carson Pickett & Rylee Baisden both netted braces – both finding the net once each in both halves, while fellow American Shea Connors bagged her first Westfield W-League goal just minutes after entering the contest late in the second half.
Head Coach Jake Goodship was stoked with a clinical performance in attack from his side in front of a stellar crowd of 2,893 at Lions Stadium.
“It’s the perfect way to finish off our final home game of the season in front of a massive crowd too,” Goodship said.
“It’s fantastic that we took our chances and made the most of key moments – it could have been more.”
“Great to see Carson & Rylee in particular [scoring goals], they’ve been working incredibly hard & they’re fantastic role models around the group.
The Roar round out the regular season with their finals ambitions on the line, taking on premiers Melbourne City at AAMI Park next Sunday afternoon (3pm KO QLD time).
“We’ll go into the game to win – we don’t change what we do,” Goodship continued.
“We play how we play, focus on what we do, execute better & better and see where next week takes us.”
