Our Young Roar will face Western Sydney Wanderers in the 2019 Foxtel Y-League Grand Final this Friday, 1 February at Sydney’s ANZ Stadium (KO 3:20pm QLD).
A 2-0 win over Melbourne Victory on Friday evening, our fifth of the season, was enough to see our Young Roar finish top of Conference A on 16 points, pipping Melbourne City on goal difference.
“It is great that our players are now rewarded with a Foxtel Y-League Grand Final appearance for their hard work,” BRFC Academy Director Drew Sherman said.
“We look forward to representing our Club and the whole of Queensland on Friday afternoon against the Wanderers.
“It’s a great opportunity for our young group of talented footballers to play in a Grand Final and highlight the outstanding program we have in place.”
The Foxtel Y-League 2019 Grand Final will be broadcast LIVE and EXCLUSIVE on FOX SPORTS 505 from 3.00pm (QLD time) on Friday and will be the first match of a double header with the Western Sydney Wanderers FC hosting the Newcastle Jets in the Hyundai A-League (KO 6:50pm QLD/7:50pm AEDT).
“BRFC has invested heavily in youth development and implementing our fee-free Academy program with a group of highly credentialed coaches,” BRFC Chief Executive Officer David Pourre added.
“On behalf of the Club, I’d like to wish our players and coaches good luck on Friday.”
FFA Head of the Leagues, Greg O’Rourke, congratulated both teams for making the Foxtel Y-League 2019 Grand Final and thanked Fox Sports for once again broadcasting the match.
“Congratulations to both the Western Sydney Wanderers FC and Brisbane Roar FC for qualifying for the Foxtel Y-League 2019 Grand Final,” said O’Rourke.
“Since the Foxtel Y-League was formed it has confirmed itself as the perfect proving ground for not just future Hyundai A-League players but also Caltex Socceroos,”
“This Foxtel Y-League Grand Final will showcase some of the best youth footballers from around the country in the Championship decider.
“On behalf of FFA, I would also like to thank Foxtel and Fox Sports for their commitment to promoting youth football as well as by broadcasting this match and to the Western Sydney Wanderers FC and ANZ Stadium for hosting the Foxtel Y-League 2019 Grand Final,” concluded O’Rourke.
