He’s only 11 years old but tonight’s Foxtel All-Stars Junior of the Week, Maclean Miller, is quite a celebrity.
The Brisbane youngster, who likes to call himself simply Mac, will present tonight’s game ball to the match officials for the Roar’s Round 26 Hyundai A-League clash with Melbourne Victory at Suncorp Stadium (7.30pm kick off).
His guest appearance comes just 24 hours after giving a speech to a TEDx international gathering in Shanghai, China, where he spoke on an “11-year-olds dream of peace”.
Mac has become known for his fund-raising efforts aimed at getting soccer balls to children around the world.
So far he and his supporters have raised over $20,000 and distributed over 2,000 soccer balls to 15 countries including Afghanistan, Solomon Islands, Papua New Guinea, Fiji, Vanuatu, the Maldives, Nepal, Zimbabwe, Syria and Uganda.
Balls have also been delivered to refugees on Manus Island while Mac has also given talks in India (where he spoke to nearly 10,000 kids) and China.
His amazing efforts earned Mac an invitation to speak at a United Nations event in Canberra where he gave footballs to the Palestinian Ambassador to pass on to children in Gaza.
So if you are at the game tonight, give Mac a big cheer and keep an eye out for one of his next fund-raising ventures.
Well done Mac from everyone at the Roar!.
