Gorry and Crummer selected in Matildas October International Friendlies

Brisbane Roar Liberty A-League stars Katrina Gorry and Larissa Crummer have been selected in the Matildas 23-player squad for their two international friendlies against South Africa and Denmark in October.

Gorry and Crummer were both part of the Matildas squad that took on Canada earlier this month at Suncorp Stadium and Allianz Stadium.

While the Matildas went down to their Candian rivals 1-0 and 2-1, Gorry played a full 90 minutes in each game with Crummer coming on as a substitute in both matches.

Australia will host a “home” match against the reigning Women’s African Cup of Nations champions on Saturday 8 October before jetting to Midtjylland for a clash with Denmark on Tuesday 11 October.

Head coach Tony Gustavsson said with only four international windows until the FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia and New Zealand 2023™, every match has meaning.

“Every training camp is vital for us to continue building understanding and chemistry in our game plan,” he said.

“Last window we saw encouraging periods of how we want to play as a team, and we hope to have more players available for this window to give us the opportunity to get the consistency we are working towards.

“We understand the task ahead of us as a team to prepare for the FIFA Women’s World Cup™ and we are all committed to keep progressing every window,” he added.
