The Brisbane Roar have back-to-back wins in the Liberty A-League after a Katrina Gorry doubles gave them a 2-0 victory over the Newcastle Jets.
The Roar put on a very physical display from the start as they looked to build on their momentum from the last round.
Midfielder Katrina Gorry made an impression early on with a goal in the ninth minute from outside the box before adding a second in the second half.
Hollie Palmer fortified the Roar’s lead when she cleared a Jets free kick off the boot of Sarah Griffith late in the match.
Newcastle created plenty of opportunities in the later stages of the second half, but the defensive skills of the Roar and goalkeeper Hensley Hancuff managed to keep them at bay.
The Roar will return home to A.J. Kelly Park to face Sydney FC on Saturday 31 December.
