Heartbreaking end to season for Young Roar

Young Roar has fallen one goal short of claiming the Foxtel National Youth League 2014/15 Premiership, despite a 2-1 win over Perth Glory Youth at Ashfield Sports Club yesterday morning.

After Melbourne City Youth and Newcastle Jets Youth drew 2-2 earlier in the day, a big win for either Brisbane or Perth would see their side take the honours for the 2014/15 season.

Heartbreakingly, the Roar required just another goal against the Glory to better the goal difference of City, who finished top due to their superior ‘goals for’ tally.

Mitch Oxborrow opened the scoring for the home side in the 13th minute before Roar defender Daniel Bowles levelled the ledger with a stunning strike on the half hour mark.

Brisbane’s Devante Clut put his side in front three minutes after the break but it was not enough to secure top spot in the competition, leaving Melbourne City Youth to become Premiers.
