Hingert honoured to hit 250 Roar ALM Matches

Brisbane Roar defender, Jack Hingert said he was hungry to mark his 250th appearance for the club with a win in Friday’s Isuzu UTE A-League Round 18 clash against Western United at Suncorp Stadium on Friday night.

Hingert is in line to make his 250th A-League appearance for Brisbane Roar on Friday night, only Matt Mckay (272) has made more top-flight appearances in orange.

The 33-year-old fullback, who has won two A-League Championships in Brisbane is in his thirteenth season at the club since arriving from North Queensland Fury in 2011.

Roar start the weekend in eighth position on the A-League ladder on 21 points, four shy of the competition’s top six with nine rounds left to play of the 2023/24 regular season.

Western United who suffered a 2-1 defeat against Melbourne Victory on Tuesday night are bottom of the league with just eleven points to their name this season.

Hingert, who has already found the back of the net once this season said he was hungry to mark the milestone with three points.

“The first four or five years I was here were our most successful times,” Hingert said ahead of Friday’s clash at Suncorp Stadium.

“I feel like I am part of the furniture, but I never wanted to go away.

“I wanted to make sure we got back to that early success, and hopefully we can while I am still here.

“Brisbane Roar is a massive part of my life. I never imagined when I first signed I would achieve (250 games).

“I don’t think it happens much in the league, to find someone show that kind of loyalty. But I have been looked after well by the club as well.

“Hopefully I can mark my 250th with a win.”

Roar coach, Ruben Zadkovich, who competed against Hingert in his playing days, said the defender embodied the Queensland spirit the club is all about.

“In the Ange Postecoglou era that Jack Hingert was a part of, the (Roar success) was an amazing thing to witness from the outside,” Zadkovich said.

“The fact that he has stayed. The fact that he is loyal, I find that inspiring.

“We want to work towards bringing back those (glory) days.”

Friday’s match kicks off at 6:45pm at Suncorp Stadium and will be broadcast live on Paramount+.
