The Hyundai A-League will soon welcome its 10 millionth fan through the turnstiles since inception in 2005.
To commemorate the historic occasion, the 10 millionth fan through the turnstiles will win the Ultimate Grand Final experience including flights, accommodation and two VIP tickets to attend the Hyundai A-League 2013 Grand Final.
At the conclusion of Round 9, the tally was up to 9,995,849 meaning the ten millionth fan will be announced during Round 10 between Adelaide United and Melbourne Victory.
“To reach the milestone of 10 million attendees in the Hyundai A-League-s relatively short history is a fantastic achievement,” said FFA CEO David Gallop.
“The heroes of this story are the fans who give football it-s unique atmosphere with their passionate and vocal support week in, week out. I thank all of the dedicated fans who have walked through the turnstiles over the past eight seasons.
“The 10 million mark comes at a time when the competition is enjoying a significant uplift in crowds, but it does show that the success is built on long-term foundations.”
Since the inaugural match played on 26 August 2005 between Newcastle Jets and Adelaide United, five different clubs have won the Premiers- Plate and four clubs have been crowned champions.
