Football Federation Australia (FFA) today announced a number of changes to the Hyundai A-League 2019/20 Season draw following consultation with clubs, broadcast, commercial partners and other stakeholders to assist Perth Glory and Sydney FC with their respective AFC Champions League 2020 campaigns.
Should Melbourne Victory qualify for the group stage of the AFC Champions League 2020, further changes to the Hyundai A-League 2019/20 Season draw may also be made.
As a result of the updates to the Hyundai A-League 2019/20 Season Draw, there are also two updates to the Westfield W-League 2019/20 Season Draw which have been made to avoid clubs hosting/playing two fixtures at two different venues on the same day.
Brisbane Roar’s Hyundai A-League Round 20 fixture against Perth Glory has been rescheduled from Sunday, 23 February to Saturday, 22 February (4pm KO QLD time). The Club’s Westfield W-League Round 13 fixture has also been rescheduled to a day later, moving from Saturday, 22 February to Sunday, 23 February (4:30pm KO QLD time)
FFA Head of Leagues, Greg O’Rourke, said that it is important that we work with all stakeholders to facilitate the most optimal draw to support to the Hyundai A-League clubs in their efforts to advance in the AFC Champions League.
“The Hyundai A-League 2019/20 Season draw was developed with flexibility to be able to accommodate the match schedules of Perth Glory, Sydney FC and Melbourne Victory, should they progress to the group stage of the AFC Champions League 2020.
“Following the recent AFC Champions League 2020 draw we are now able to make these adjustments with minimal disruption to the Hyundai A-League competition to assist the participating clubs.
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank all our key stakeholders for working together to accommodate these updates for the benefit of our clubs participating in the AFC Champions League 2020,” concluded O’Rourke.
