Ins & Outs: Experienced defenders return

Mel Andreatta has named her 18-player squad for Sunday’s do-or-die Westfield W-League finals clash against Sydney FC at Redcliffe’s Dolphin Stadium (6:15pm KO).

With the exception of Katrina Gorry, who is out with a season-ending injury, our Head Coach has a full squad to select from to take on the Sky Blues on Sunday.

Just two inclusions have been made from the final round clash away to Adelaide United with defenders Jenna McCormick & Summer O’Brien promoted to the squad.

McCormick has been instrumental in the heart of defence alongside captain Clare Polkinghorne throughout the season, and returns to the side after missing the final round.

The squad features an incredible six teenagers, all of whom have earned minutes in Andreatta’s squad throughout the season so far.

Young attacker Indiah-Paige Riley will have fond memories of her last trip to Dolphin Stadium, after capping off her 17th birthday with a maiden Westfield W-League goal back in December.

The Roar defeated the Wanderers 3-1 that day & while Sunday’s opponents have won both meetings so far this campaign, Brisbane lead the ledger in finals meetings having won on three of the five post-season clashes.
