Isuzu UTE A-League preview: Brisbane Roar v Western United

Brisbane Roar could welcome back Juan Lescano in a potential boost for Saturday’s crucial Isuzu UTE A-League clash with Western United.

Lescano missed the midweek match against Melbourne City through illness but is back in contention to face John Aloisi’s side at Moreton Daily Stadium.

The striker scored twice in his last appearance, a 4-1 win in Perth, and would add an extra physical dimension to the Roar attack against a muscular United defence.

Warren Moon was able to bring Nikola Mileusnic off the bench against City on Wednesday and Alex Parsons and Connor Chapman have also now joined team training, although this afternoon’s match might come too soon for that pair and left-back Corey Brown, who is progressing well with his injury rehab.

MATCHDAY GUIDE: All you need to know for Saturday!

Brisbane will be determined to bounce back after falling to a 2-1 defeat against the champions, but the opposition aren’t getting any easier.

Western are three points off top spot with 10 wins in the bank, although none have come in their past three matches.

Key defender Leo Lacroix is likely to return from suspension, which will rule out Josh Risdon, while the influential Alessandro Diamanti may remain on the sideline through injury.

For the Roar, it’s a chance to move back within four points of sixth-placed Sydney FC following their loss to Newcastle Jets on Friday night.

A win would propel Moon’s men into the Finals Series conversation and set the scene for another big week at home, with Wellington and the Jets set to visit Moreton Daily Stadium on Wednesday and Sunday respectively.
