Brisbane Roar will be looking to bounce back from last week’s loss when they take on the Western Sydney Wanderers on Saturday afternoon.
Following a 2-0 loss to Isuzu UTE A-League leaders Melbourne City, head coach Warren Moon said the team had been training hard to grab the win this weekend.
“They care, they hurt, which is good, but I don’t expect anyone to be happy walking around this week because results are what we are about,” he said.
“We haven’t got the results yet so what we need now go down to Sydney and perform for the club, put everything on the line, and try to get the three points.
“I think what we need to see is a little bit more aggression and some positivity on how we go about our business on Saturday,” he added.
The Wanderers have had two wins to start their season, beating Perth Glory (1-0) and Melbourne Victory (1-0) to sit second place behind Melbourne City on the ladder.
Their captain Marcelo Guedes has been an instrumental part in Western Sydney’s defensive efforts which has also seen goalkeeper Lawrence Thomas keep a 100 per cent save success rate.
With Roar in the hunt for their first goal, having come close in their Round 1 match against Macarthur, forward Joe Knowles says that there is still plenty of belief in the group that they can score goals
“I think we’ve been unfortunate against Macarthur in the first game, where we had a number of chances but couldn’t put them away then Melbourne City was a tough game for us, but we still have confidence to score,” he said.
“We’re putting a lot of things right on the training pitch this week and we’re going to go out with everything and give Western Sydney a good game.”
