Isuzu UTE A-League report: Ivanović seals season-ending win over Sky Blues

Brisbane Roar signed off from the Isuzu UTE A-League season on a positive note with a come-from-behind 3-1 win over Sydney FC on Tuesday night.

Luke Ivanović sealed the victory against his former club – the Roar’s first in this fixture since 2019 – when he turned home Nikola Mileusnić’s pass a minute after both were introduced as second-half substitutes.

Alex Parsons and Juan Lescano had earlier overturned Max Burgess’ opener, the pair both finding the net in the space of four electrifying minutes.

The visitors attempted to rally after the interval but were met with stiff resistance from Jordan Holmes, who produced several stunning saves to the delight of the Roar faithful.

Warren Moon’s men will now look to secure another win in their final assignment for the season, the Australia Cup Playoff game against Western Sydney Wanderers on Friday.

Sydney FC | Max Burgess (30′)

An inch-perfect cross from Anthony Caceres is headed in by Burgess.

Brisbane Roar | Alex Parsons (36′)

Eli Adams receives the ball in space on the left flank, advances towards goal and delivers an excellent cross into the box, which Parsons heads down and beyond Tom Heward-Belle.

Brisbane Roar | Juan Lescano (40′)

Lescano spins away from a challenge and exchanges a perfect one-two with Jay O’Shea, before finishing inside the far post.

Brisbane Roar | Luke Ivanović (67′)

An immediate impact from the substitutes as Mileusnić takes full advantage of a turnover, racing down the left and squaring for Ivanović to sidefoot home the sealer.
