Isuzu UTE A-League report: Roar celebrate Hingert milestone in style

Isuzu UTE A-League report: Roar celebrate Hingert milestone in style

Brisbane Roar celebrated Jack Hingert’s milestone match in supreme style with a dominant 3-1 win over Macarthur FC on Sunday evening.

Warren Moon’s men were in control from the first whistle to the last after Nikola Mileusnić finished off a flowing team move just 62 seconds into the contest.

Corey Brown and Henry Hore got on the scoresheet in the final half hour to sew up all three points, ensuring a fitting end to Hingert’s 200th Isuzu UTE A-League appearance for the club.

The long-serving defender is just the second Roar player to reach the double hundred and, after the game, was presented with a framed jersey by the man who got there first, Matt McKay.

There is little time to savour the result, though, with the team returning to action this Wednesday afternoon against Wellington Phoenix.

The Leichhardt Oval encounter gets underway at 4:25pm (QLD).

GOALS

Brisbane Roar | Nikola Mileusnić (2′)

1-0 – Beautiful one-touch football from Brisbane. Hingert, Matti Steinmann and Juan Lescano all combine before Jay O’Shea threads a delightful first-time pass into space for Mileusnić to chase. The in-form winger makes no mistake, rounding the onrushing Filip Kurto and burying his fifth goal in six games.

Brisbane Roar | Corey Brown (60′)

2-0 – Hingert’s inviting cross is punched only partially clear by Kurto. Brown meets the bouncing ball on the edge of the area, lashing it back into the bottom right corner.

Newcastle Jets | Adrian Mariappa (74′)

2-1 – Macarthur recycle the ball after a corner, with a subsequent cross from the left finding the head of Mariappa.

Brisbane Roar | Henry Hore (78′)

3-1 – Mileusnić and Hore harry Daniel De Silva into an error in his own box, with the midfielder dispossessed six yards out from goal. A desperate sliding challenge from a Macarthur defender ricochets off Hore and squirts over the line, giving him a second career goal.
