Isuzu UTE A-League report: Roar outlast Jets in two-goal home win

Henry Hore’s fifth Isuzu UTE A-League goal sparked a hard-earned 2-0 victory for Brisbane Roar over Newcastle Jets at Moreton Daily Stadium on Sunday.

Controlling all the key statistics, Warren Moon’s men were nevertheless made to toil for a win which was set up by Hore’s patient, persistent effort in the 83rd minute.

The attacker dribbled past several would-be tacklers in the box before burying his finish inside the bottom right corner, punishing the 10-man Jets mere moments after Lucas Mauragis’ dismissal for a second yellow card.

Luke Ivanović added the gloss with a sublime curling strike in stoppage time, ensuring the Roar gained maximum reward for effort.

Having given away precisely zero shots on target, a youthful, energetic Brisbane will be looking to maintain that clinical edge away to Western Sydney Wanderers on Saturday, 9 April.

Brisbane have numbers on the edge of the area as O’Shea works it to Ivanović, who gets the ball out of his feet and whips a wonderful shot around an outstretched Jack Duncan.
