Two-time defending Gary Wilkins Medallist Jamie Young has locked in his future with Brisbane Roar, penning a new long-term deal with the Club.

Young has put pen to a deal which will lock in the Hyundai A-League 2017/18 Goalkeeper of the Season at the Club for the 2020/21 campaign and beyond.

“To secure my future is something that puts my mind at ease and to sign for Brisbane Roar again, the only club I’ve played for in the [Hyundai] A-League, is a privilege and an honour,” Young said.

“I’ve thoroughly enjoyed coming in and training every day here in Brisbane. There were times where I’ve trained on cold winter’s nights in England and here I get to train out in the sun with guys I really enjoy being around.”

“Signing for this Club is one of the best things I’ve ever done.

Young

Young earlier this season became just the 13th player and second goalkeeper to play 100 Hyundai A-League games for the Club and has rapidly developed a reputation as one of the league’s premier shot stoppers.

“I would like to thank Head Coach Robbie Fowler and the staff at the Club for their advice and for offering me this opportunity again. I would like to particularly thank [Goalkeeping Coach] Jason Kearton who originally brought me to the Club,” Young continued.

“I would also like to thank our supporters. They have been so good to me and the relationship I have with them personally is something I will never forget.”

Brisbane Roar CEO David Pourre says it’s terrific to have a player and leader of Young’s calibre locked in for the forthcoming campaigns.

“The Club is delighted to start the new year with the re-signing of a key squad member and someone who over many years has been a fantastic servant to football in Queensland and Australia,” Pourre said.

“I know our members, fans and supporters will be as pleased as we are to have Jamie as part of our family for the years ahead. We will continue to work hard and strive for success in 2020 and beyond.”
