Brisbane Roar has secured the services of young defender Matthew Jurman for two seasons.
Currently with Sydney FC, Jurman will join Brisbane at the conclusion of Sydney-s upcoming AFC Champions League campaign.
Brisbane Head Coach Ange Postecoglou said he was delighted to have signed 21-year-old Jurman, believing he would fill the shoes of departed Luke DeVere in the heart of the Brisbane defence.
“I know Matt well, I coached him at junior international level and I-ve watched him very closely this season,” Postecoglou said.
“Once Luke left I obviously wanted a replacement and I wanted young Australian centreback, Matt was the ideal candidate.
“He-s shown he-s ready to play at a consistent level and we-re looking forward to the opportunity to help develop him further.”
Jurman has played nine Hyundai A-League matches this season for Sydney, starting eight, to add to his 14 appearances for the club since making his debut in the 2007/08 season.
