Young Roar defeated Brisbane Strikers 4-2 in Kappa Pro Series Group B action a Perry Park on Wednesday night.
Goals from Dylan Meinicke, Zac Fowler, James Durrington and Ivan Ozzi sealed all three points against a Strikers side who found the back of the net through Seth Renjifo and Josh Sherwing.
Renjifo put the home side in front when he popped up with with a finish from the top of the box in the 33rd minute.
Roar hit back and levelled the scores five minutes later through Meinicke, who slammed home a finish on the end of a corner in the 38th minute.
Young Roar came out of the blocks firing in the second stanza and took the lead in the 48th minute through a Zac Fowler finish at the near post for his second goal in a week adding to the league best ten goals he’d scored for the U23 side so far this season.
James Durrington made it three when he got in behind the Strikers defence and fired a low finish past Jerrad Tyson in the 55th minute.
Ivan Ozzi, who netted a hat-trick in his first start for the club against Rochedale on Sunday made an immediate impact, coming off the bench and scoring with a header in the 63rd minute.
Sherwing pulled a goal back for Strikers late on when he broke free of the Roar defence and finished into the bottom corner.
Wednesday’s 4-2 win sees Roar climb to equal second in Kappa Pro Series Group B ahead of their final group game against Sunshine Coast Wanderers.
Next up for Young Roar is a return to NPL Queensland action where they will face Olympic FC at Nudgee Recreation Reserve on Sunday evening.
