Young Roar look to book a spot in the Kappa Pro Series Quarter Finals for the first time when they go up against Gold Coast Knights at Lex Bell Oval in their final group game on Wednesday night.
Karl Dodd’s side sit level at the top of Group D alongside Brisbane City and Rochedale Rovers on seven points after four rounds of action, with a point in their final group game enough to seal Roar’s passage into the final eight.
Roar have taken wins against Brisbane City and Broadbeach United, a draw against Magic United while their sole defeat came at the hands of Rochedale from their Pro Series campaign so far.
Defending NPL Queensland Premiers, Gold Coast Knights currently sit fifth in the group and are coached by former Roar forward, Scott McDonald and their playing ranks include Rahmat Akbari and Bradden Inman.
Wednesday’s match marks a long awaited return to action for Karl Dodd’s side after a very wet few weeks that has seen five of Roar’s last six scheduled matches postponed as a result of wet weather.
Roar’s last outing was in late March where they suffered a 2-1 league defeat at the hands of Moreton City Excelsior.
Despite a taking the lead through a Pearson Kasawaya goal a second half Kenshin Takagishi brace saw the visitors come away victorious.
Unfortunately there is no stream for Wednesday’s match at Lex Bell Oval which kicks off at 7:30pm. We’ll provide a wrap up across Brisbane Roar socials at full time.
