Keegan Jelacic signs 12-month loan extension from K.A.A. Gent

Brisbane Roar are delighted to announce that Keegan Jelacic will remain at the club for the 2024/25 Isuzu UTE A-League season after signing a 12-month loan extension from Belgian Pro League side K.A.A Gent.

The 21-year-old, who has represented the Subway Olyroos on six occasions, returned to the club in January after making his A-League debut for Brisbane Roar in 2021. He made 11 appearances, picking up three assists and scored his first goal for Roar in a 5-1 victory over Melbourne City in Round 16.

The Queensland midfielder’s strong form during his loan at Roar earned him a spot in the Olyroos squad for the 2024 U23 Asian Cup held in Qatar earlier this year.

Jelacic arrived in Brisbane after spending the first half of the 2023/24 season on loan in the Norwegian top-flight, where he made eight appearances for Stabæk Fotball.

The attacking midfielder made the move to Europe after a break-out 2022/23 A-League campaign with Perth Glory, where he established himself as one of the competition’s most exciting young players – scoring two goals and bagging four assists across 22 appearances in the West.

Jelacic spent two seasons in the Roar youth set up and played locally with Rochedale Rovers, Brisbane Strikers, Lions FC and Olympic FC.

“I’m happy to have extended my loan to continue playing at the club that gave me my A-League debut. I’m looking forward to another season in Brisbane and hopefully I can help bring some success back to the club,” Jelacic said.

“It’s been great to be back with the boys again for pre-season. I want to help the team have a big season and definitely push into that top six.”
