Match Preview: Isuzu UTE A-League Melbourne Victory v Brisbane Roar

Brisbane Roar’s Isuzu UTE A-League squad will hit the road for their first of two away games in five days when they face Melbourne Victory on Friday night.

As the side finished its preparations on Thursday morning for their match against 11th-placed Victory, head coach Warren Moon hopes they’ll be able to turn their draws into wins.

Currently, the Roar have been undefeated in their last seven games with two wins and six draws – the last time they went longer without a loss was a 10-game streak in 2016.

“We just need to turn those draws into wins,” Moon said. “We need to make sure we’re fully focussed for the 90 minutes and take our chances when they come.

“It’s pretty cliché but that’s where we are at the moment if we can turn those fine margins in our favour we’ll go on a run of matches,” he added.

If they are able to get the three points, the Roar will put themselves into the top four momentarily with other matches to come in Round 11.

However, they will have to do it without skipper Tom Aldred, who is set to miss the match through injury.

Aldred picked up a knock late in the side’s draw against Western United last week with the decision made to take a precautious approach.

With a slight re-gig in the back line to cover the presence the 32-year-old brings to the side, especially in the backline.

“We don’t want to give too much away but rest assured whoever comes in will do a good job,” Moon said.

After Friday night’s match, the Roar will head to Western Australia where they’ll face Perth Glory on Tuesday night.
