MATCH REPORT | Roar score 5-0 win over Perth Glory

A dominant Brisbane Roar recorded a crushing 5-0 win over a nine-man Perth Glory in the Foxtel National Youth League clash at Intiga Stadium on Saturday.

A dominant Brisbane Roar recorded a crushing 5-0 win over a nine-man Perth Glory in the Foxtel National Youth League clash at Intiga Stadium on Saturday.

Roar pair Jai Ingham and Brandon Borrello both scored braces as the visitors avenged the 7-2 defeat they suffered at the hands of Perth on their home turf earlier in the season.

Undisciplined acts from Glory saw centre backs Alexander Castiello and Mark Barnett sent off and give Brisbane a significant on-field advantage in the sapping Perth heat.

Adding to the home side-s woes, promising striker Jamie Maclaren suffered an ankle injury in his first match back from a groin complaint.

Saturday-s win was the Roar-s second in as many games, while Perth has conceded 32 goals in its past six straight losses.

Ingham put the Roar ahead in the 13th minute when he effortlessly slotted a penalty following Castiello-s straight red card for a last man tackle.

However, Ingham soon found himself in the referee-s book for a crude challenge on Glory defender Josh Risdon.

Perth winger Harry O-Brien came agonisingly close to levelling the score when his long-range attempt hit the cross bar.

But Borrello added salt to the Glory-s early wounds when he weaved his way through Glory-s depleted defence and slammed the ball past a helpless Fraser Greenwood.

Borrello added another nine minutes later in almost identical fashion as the Roar took advantage of having an extra man on the pitch.

Just when things seemingly could not get worse for Glory, Maclaren had to be subbed off in the 35th minute after rolling his right ankle.

Maclaren was playing his first match in two weeks after picking up a groin injury that forced to him to pull out of Australia-s squad for the AFC U22 Championships in Oman.

Risdon looked dangerous in the first half for Glory at right back, but took no further part after the break following a substitute appearance for the senior team on Friday night.

Perth midfielder Daniel De Silva was denied a chance to score shortly after half-time due to an excellent piece of goalkeeping from Brisbane-s Matt Acton.

Roar substitute Samuel Sibataura took just three minutes after entering the pitch to add a fourth goal for his side before Barnett picked up his second yellow card of the match in the 74th minute, reducing Glory to just nine players.

Ingham converted a second penalty four minutes later after he was clipped inside the box by Brandon O-Neill and had two chances to complete a hat-trick in the final minutes, but one went into the side netting and the other was well wide of the goalmouth.
